Shiloh Everett Nelson
There’s nothing quite like holding your grandchild for the first time. The slight wiggle, the intoxicating baby smell, the wonder of new life filling your arms. My husband was enthralled, not just with the handsomeness of the baby, the dimples, the dark blue eyes and perfect little fingers, but even with the feeling of gas moving through his tiny body, the warmth of him, and the amazing amount of love this new being generated in all of us. Our daughter and her husband haven’t stopped glowing, and between the seven grandparents (count them, seven…) there is nothing but joy. It’s reassuring to know that no matter what happens in the world there is the possibility of new life. This little boy is the very best holiday present ever, the first grandchild for all of us! He was born on the first day of Chanukah, and in time to be our family Christmas present as well. Life is good, is it not?
